The 2018 finalists for the American Society of Business Publication Editors’ (ASBPE) annual Azbee Awards were recently announced, with SGC/SGC Horizon brands earning 22 finalist recognitions in national and regional categories. The brands earning this prestigious recognition are Construction Equipment, Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology (DAIC), Imaging Technology News (ITN), Professional Builder,, Roads & Bridges, Smart & Resilient Cities, Water & Wastes Digest (WWD), Industrial Water & Wastes Digest (iWWD), and Water Quality Products (WQP).

The Azbee Awards recognize editorial and design excellence in the business, trade and specialty press. Almost 1,100 entries were submitted for the 2018 awards and were peer reviewed and judged by a panel of experienced B2B editors and designers.

Construction Equipment was named as a national and regional finalist in the Print Regular Column, Contributed category for Mike Vorster’s “Equipment Executive”; and the Print Production Section/Department category for its “Buying File.” A second regional nomination was received in the Print Original Research category for “Construction’s Digital Building Blocks.”

Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology (DAIC) is a national and regional finalist in the Online Blog Analysis/Commentary category for “Insights into Cardiovascular Technology Advances”; and received another regional nomination in the Online Social Media Presence category for “DAIC Expands Reader Base and Website Traffic Through Social Media.”

Imaging Technology News (ITN) received national and regional finalist recognition in two categories: Online Video News for “Technology Report: Enterprise Imaging”; and Print Regular Column, Contributed for “Radiology Column: The Last Read.” Two additional regional nominations were received in the Online Enterprise News Story category for “Oncology Information Systems Need to Integrate”; and the Online Trade Show/Conference Coverage category for “ITN Use of Social Media for Show Coverage.”

Professional Builder is a national finalist in the Overall Excellence Magazine of the Year category for its January, February and March 2017 issues. Three additional regional nominations were received in the Print Regular Column, Contributed category for “Grand Theft Home Building” and “VPO Story: Welcome To Your Nightmare”; the Print Group Profile category for “Active Culture: 2017 Builder of the Year”; and the Print Special Section category for its “Special Report: 2017 Housing Giants.” has three regional finalist nominations in separate categories: Online Podcast for “7 Minutes of BS — Building Science, Syncopated”; Online Visual Storytelling for “Short Films for Builders and Remodelers”; and Online Video Tutorial for “Animated Explorations.”

Roads & Bridges has two regional nominations in the Online Trade Show/Conference Coverage category for its “ConExpo Show Coverage”; and in the Online Podcast category for “Roads & Bridges podcast.”

Smart & Resilient Cities is a regional finalist in the Online Q&A category for its “INTERVIEW: NTIA's Jean Rice Explains Why Smart Cities Need Broadband.”

Water & Wastes Digest received national finalist recognition in the Overall Excellence Cross-Platform Package of the Year category for “Hounded by Harvey”; and regional recognition in the Video News category for “Hounded by Harvey.”

Industrial Water & Wastes Digest received regional recognition in the Online Enewsletter General Excellence category for its “iWWD eNews.”

Water Quality Products received a regional nomination in the Online Web News Section category for its “Water Quality Products Web News.”

The Upper Midwest regional award winners will be named at the Azbee Awards Banquet held on May 4 in Chicago and the national award winners will be announced May 18 at the 2018 ASBPE National Conference & Azbee Awards Banquet in Washington, DC.
