Arlington Heights, IL (September 7, 2016) — As the 2015 Model ReModel renovation of a Dallas home was getting the final touches, work began on the 2016 Model ReModel project, a Colonial-style home located in Batavia, a western suburb of Chicago. Now the doors of the renovated 2016 home will be open to visitors on September 25, as a stop on Batavia’s annual House Walk.

Hosted by Professional Remodeler magazine, a Model ReModel project is an ongoing how-to presentation of best practices for remodeling professionals, as well as curious neighborhood residents. From concept to completion, the progress is covered both in Professional Remodeler magazine and online at PRModelRemodel.com. The dedicated website is populated with photos, videos, remodeling tips, product information, and updates as the remodeling project moves from stripping down the interior to the studs, building an addition, and rehabbing the exterior, to modernizing and finishing the interior.

The 2016 Model Remodel home is located in one of Batavia’s historic neighborhoods. Dark and dated, it was long overdue for an overhaul, including replacement of pipes and rot-riddled flooring. The home was purchased by Mike Spillane of Spillane & Sons. A contractor who builds new homes, Spillane prefers restoring older homes to their original beauty rather than demolishing them.

Due to the Batavia home’s timeless clean and simple lines, with its rectangular shape and symmetrical features, Spillane decided to retain, enhance and modernize its original look. He carefully removed and reinstalled the original doors, door frames, stairway handrails and a corner cabinet. A second-story addition over the sun room enlarged the master bedroom while adding another bathroom and a walk-in closet. The screened-in porch was replaced with an open-air porch with wide-open views. From floor to roof, and wall to wall, the home has a fresh new look, up-to-date conveniences, and stunning curb appeal.

Partnering in the 2016 Model ReModel home are seven sponsors: Whirlpool (appliances), Panasonic Ventilation, Ferguson (plumbing and lighting), James Hardie (siding and trim), Wellborn (cabinets), Noritz (tankless water heater) and Armstrong (ceilings).

The 2016 Model ReModel home coverage will remain on PRModelRemodel.com for a full year. The 2017 Model ReModel project will begin shortly on a country home in New Milford, CT. For information on partnering as a sponsor of the 2017 Model ReModel home, contact Adam Grubb at agrubb@sgcmail.com.
