Arlington Heights, IL (December 6, 2016) — Professional Builder magazine continues its nearly quarter-century history of presenting new products in a hands-on environment with its Show Village neighborhood at the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) International Builders’ Show 2017, January 10-17, in Orlando.
Situated on the parking lot outside the Orange County Convention Center, Show Village will feature a 55+ Home, a Millennial Home, and the Ultimate Kitchen and Bath, along with a smart home by Nest and the return of the BASF sustainable home. Nightly “block parties” encourage attendees to network with their peers.
Professional Builder partners with home builders, designers, and product manufacturers to create these technology showcases. This year, Professional Builder teams with Palm Harbor Homes of Plant City, FL, on the Millennial Home and Ultimate Kitchen. The 55+ Home is designed by Jim Chapman Homes LLC, based in Atlanta, and built by Nationwide Custom Homes of Martinsville, VA.
The 1,740-square-foot, single-level Millennial Home offers an open floor plan with barn doors on the living room and parlor to facilitate privacy. It maximizes storage space with large walk-in closets. Its two covered porches expand the square footage space to 1,980. The home features a master bedroom and bath, plus two guest bedrooms with a shared bath.
The 55+ home features such aging-in-place designs as extra-wide hallways and doorways, shower stalls, low-maintenance exteriors and single-level living. A covered porch provides sheltered entry into the 1,871-square-foot home which includes a den, master bedroom and bath, and two guest bedrooms with a shared bath. At the conclusion of IBS, the home will be donated and relocated to Family Promise, a homeless shelter organization based in Georgia.
The 960-sq. ft. Ultimate Kitchen, presented by Professional Remodeler magazine, is designed by NKBA’s 2016 Kitchen of the Year designer Lori Carroll. It includes a bath, small bedroom and laundry room and utilizes the latest technologies and hottest design trends.
