Arlington Heights, IL (October 28, 2014) — Energy efficiency and sustainability are the focus of the two Show Village homes, the Ultimate Kitchen, and the BASF BEYOND.High Performance Net Zero home to be built at the International Builders’ Show/KBIS, January 20-22. SGC Horizon’s Professional Builder magazine and dozens of product manufacturers are sponsoring these products-at-work environments in the parking lot outside the main entrance of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The 2,468 sq. ft., two-story traditional Park City home has three bedrooms plus an office and features a fireplace in the living room and master bedroom, a Serenity tub with LED lights, and oak flooring. Dual-pane low-E windows, Tyvek ThermaWrap R5.0 continuous exterior insulation, ENERGY STAR appliances, and ductless heating and cooling all add up to high efficiency.
A two-story modern home welcomes the great outdoors with a living room accordion door and dining room accordion window that feature swing-out stacking panels. A multi-slide door in the loft opens up the interior sitting area to the exterior deck. At 2,046 sq. ft., the home has two bedrooms and an office, and boasts highly sustainable bamboo floors, dual-pane low-E thermally broken windows, blow-in fiberglass insulation and high-efficiency weather barrier housewrap.
The all-new, 600 sq. ft. Ultimate Kitchen is an energy-efficient retreat that includes a separate bedroom and bathroom, a lounge area with an alcohol-burning fireplace, upscale built-in cabinetry, ENERGY STAR appliances and radiant heat tile flooring. The Ultimate Kitchen was designed by KBIS 2014 Best Kitchen Design winner Tim Scott of XTC Design Inc. in Toronto.
The BASF BEYOND.High Performance Net Zero Home is built to achieve at least 50% more enhanced energy performance than in code-built homes — and represents a high-performance home of the future.
