Arlington Heights, IL (July 24, 2013) — Educational sessions are rapidly filling for the BUILDINGChicago/Greening the Heartland Expo and Conference, to be held September 9-11 at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza. Early registration is suggested, as seating is limited for the more than 65 accredited sessions, for which attending commercial building architects, engineers, contractors and building owners/developers may earn AIA CES and GBCI credits.
The educational platform focuses on green building with session tracks that include Building Information Modeling, Developments in Healthcare and Universities, and Tips on Energy Savings.
Among the accredited sessions are Regenerative Design and the Living Building Challenge: An Interactive Discussion, a look at how to become more effective environmentalists and active leaders of change; Implementing LEED for Healthcare: Inpatient Expansion at St. Vincent Fishers (IN) Medical Center, a discussion of implementing sustainable strategies and why St. Vincent Health chose to seek LEED; and From Energy Hog to Energy Miser: Transforming the U.S. Bank Building, Madison WI, detailing how US Bank Plaza’s MEP upgrades resulted in a 33 percent reduction in electricity use and a savings of 25 million gallons of water a year.
The 10th Annual Midwest Greening the Heartland expo and conference, sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council chapters from the 12 Midwest states, opens on September 9 and continues on September 10. The inaugural BUILDINGChicago expo and conference, owned by Scranton Gillette Communications/SGC Horizon, publishers of Building Design+Construction, runs September 10-11.
