Arlington Heights, IL (December 18, 2014) — The Advisory Committee of the BUILDING THE HEARTLAND 2015 Conference (formerly BUILDINGChicago/ Greening the Heartland) is now accepting proposals for presenters and
topics. Now in its third year, the event is sponsored by SGC Horizon’s Building Design+Construction magazine, AIA Chicago, and USGBC-Illinois. It will take place August 31-September 2, at North America’s largest LEED Gold-certified hotel, the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza.

The 2015 BUILDING THE HEARTLAND program will feature five tracks: 1) Technology (e.g., BIM, robotics, field tools, 3D printing); 2) Owner/Developer/Occupant panels (“What they want from their Building Teams”); 3) Residential (single-family, condo, apartment); 4) High-Performance Buildings (LEED, Green Globes, Energy Star, Living Building Challenge); and 5) High-Performance Building Systems and Tools (e.g., energy modeling, biophilia, energy codes, materials, stormwater management).

“We wanted to broaden the conference content to provide discussion of new technology, the residential market, and the needs of owners, developers, and occupants of buildings," says BD+C Editorial Director Robert Cassidy, who is also the Conference chairman. “BUILDING THE HEARTLAND will still be about 50% ‘green’ in content, with sessions on environmental responsibility, sustainability, resiliency, and healthy building.”

All education sessions will offer AIA CES or Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) learning units — and, in most cases, both.

Proposals must be submitted online at www.BuildingtheHeartland.com. Submitters may return to their uploaded and saved proposals for editing any time up until the submission deadline of 11:59 p.m., CST, February 6, 2015. Faxed or mailed proposals will not be accepted.
