Arlington Heights, IL (February 4, 2015) — The Association of Business Information & Media Companies (ABM) recently announced the 2015 Jesse H. Neal Award finalists, with Scranton Gillette Communication’s (SGC) Residential Lighting named as one of four finalists in the Best Use of Social Media category for its social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram. The winners, selected for exhibiting journalistic enterprise, service to the industry and editorial craftsmanship, will be announced on March 27 at the New York City awards ceremony.

It has been a noteworthy year for Residential Lighting. The brand and sister publication Building Design+Construction (BD+C) won a 2014 Jesse H. Neal Award in the Best Single Issue category for the BD+C issue that contained Residential Lighting’s 24-page LED Lighting Solutions section. Residential Lighting also captured the Trade, Association and Business Publications International’s 2014 Gold TABBIE Award for Best Use of Social Media, and received a Folio: 2014 Eddie Award Honorable Mention for B-to-B Overall Use of Social Media. Publisher/ Editorial Director Laura Van Zeyl was named in Today’s Chicago Woman magazine as one of 100 Women of Inspiration, and Managing Editor Nicole Bowling was named one of Folio:’s 20 in Their 20s honorees.

SGC/SGC Horizon brands tallied 11 finalist recognitions in nine 2015 Neal Awards categories. In addition to Residential Lighting’s recognition in the Social Media category, Building Design+Construction is a finalist in the Best Technical Content and the Best Newsletter categories, and a two-time finalist in the Best Subject-Related Package category.

Professional Builder/ProBuilder.com is a finalist in the Best Commentary category, Best Subject-Related Package category, and the Best Theme Issue of a Magazine or Newspaper category. Roads & Bridges magazine is a finalist in the Best Subject-Related Series, and The Diapason magazine is a finalist in the Best News Story category.

ABM’s Jesse H. Neal Award is recognized as the “Pulitzer Prize of the business press.” Established in 1955, the awards are named after ABM’s first managing director, who promoted the business press throughout his life.
