Arlington Heights, IL (October 22, 2014) — Building Design+Construction’s Editor-in-Chief David Barista is the exclusive body-of-work winner of the CWA’s 2014 Kneeland “Ned” Godfrey Award for his 2013-2014 BIM series. The Godfrey Award “recognizes an individual writer’s versatility, intelligence and superior writing in construction journalism,” according to the association. Established in 1999, the award is named in honor of the late former editor of Civil Engineering magazine who was an active member and past president of CWA.
Building Design+Construction magazine’s Editorial Director Robert Cassidy received a 2014 Robert F. Boger Award from the Construction Writers Association (CWA) for his April 2013 feature, “23 Things You Need to Know About Charter Schools,” and an honorable mention for his January 2014 special report, “Can Design Prevent Another Sandy Hook?”
Both Barista and Cassidy have won numerous Robert F. Boger, AZBEE and Jesse H. Neal Awards for editorial excellence. Cassidy also was honored this year with the American Business Media’s 46th annual G.D. Crain, Jr. Award for his career record of product quality and high journalistic standards.
David Barista has covered the U.S. construction industry for more than a decade. Robert Cassidy has a 36-year career in business-to-business media and has led SGC Horizon’s Building Design+Construction editorial team since 2002. He is the author of several city-planning books and a co-founder of Friends of the Chicago River, a volunteer organization committed to revitalizing Chicago’s river system.
