Arlington Heights, IL (August 28, 2012) — Scranton Gillette Communications and SGC Horizon, publishers of Building Design+Construction, announced today the launch of a new trade event for the commercial building design and construction industry. BUILDINGChicago will be held September 10-12, 2013, in downtown Chicago.

BUILDINGChicago will provide a wide variety of educational and networking opportunities built upon the strong track record of high-quality, AIA-accredited education for architects through BD+C University. BD+C University offers architects, engineers, contractors and building owners/developers who specialize in the commercial, industrial and institutional markets a convenient educational platform available online 24/7 from anywhere in the world. Session tracks will include Building Information Modeling, Developments in Healthcare and Universities, and Tips for CEO/Owners, and will offer CEU credit for most sessions. “After building such a strong relationship with the AIA Chicago for so many years,” added Rob Cassidy, editorial director of BD+C, “we will welcome their support in developing a solid conference program.”

“For over 50 years, BD+C has been the leading trade publication for this market,” said Tony Mancini, group director-principal for BD+C. “After conducting research in the Chicago and Midwest, it was clear that there is a need for an event to allow the many facets of the industry to come together to learn, exchange ideas and see the latest in products, technologies and services. This event is a natural fit with our other online and face-to-face events, bringing together leading buyers and sellers in a professional learning environment.”

The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce also has endorsed the event and will provide informa- tion to be included in conference sessions. “We are happy to be supporting BUILDINGChicago in 2013," said Jerry Roper, president of the Chamber. “Not only does this bring a necessary focused event to the market, but it will give Chicago another chance to showcase our world-class architecture to an appreciative audience.”

The Builders Association, a Charter Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America has also endorsed BUILDINGChicago. The event will be managed by Chicago-based Hall- Erickson, Inc.
