Arlington Heights, IL (March 13, 2013) Professional Remodeler magazine’s July 2012 “The Conversation” issue was named winner of the 2013 Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Theme Issue of a Magazine at the American Business Media’s awards ceremony in New York on March 12. Winners are selected for exhibiting journalistic enterprise, service to the industry and editorial craftsmanship.

This is the second consecutive year that Professional Remodeler took top honors at the Neal Awards. Professional Remodeler and sister publication Professional Builder won the 2012 Neal Award for Best Subject-Related Series of Articles for their joint special report, “The Tablet PC Revolution,” published in September 2011. Scranton Gillette Communications/SGC Horizon is the publisher of both publications.

“Our readers are small-business marketers,” says Patrick O’Toole, editorial director and publisher of Professional Remodeler. “This issue helped them begin the process of using all the tools available — social media, blogging, videos, ratings and more — to join the conversation and drive leads for new business. The Neal award and our reader response indicate that our in-depth approach works. We are pleased to be recognized for it.”

ABM’s prestigious Jesse H. Neal Award is recognized as the “Pulitzer Prize of the business press” and is the b-to-b industry’s salute to individual editors. Established in 1955, the awards are named after ABM’s first managing director, who promoted the business press throughout his life.
